Orphantrust » Farming Funds

Over the years funds we have explored ways to make Charfassion to become more self-sufficient.

Funds have been provided to enable the orphanage to farm fish and vegetables.

Fish are a significant addition to the orphanage’s income.  The boys are given fish to eat approximately once a week and the rest is sold at the local market.    In this picture the fish are being selected to feed the mothers on the annual Mother’s day that is held to acknowledge the importance of mothers in the boys’ lives.  In Bangladesh an orphan is defined as a boy without a father and there are many mothers who simply cannot afford to maintain their families. A new pond was built in 2015 to increase amount of fish that can be grown. Vegetables are grown at the orphanage farm including on the banks of the new pond.
