Mujahid Hossain

                 ‘Mujahid has great potential’

            Extract from Mujahid’s school report

Mujahid, like a number of other students we sponsor, hails from Madaripur; a district south of Dhaka in the heart of Bangladesh. Employment opportunities in the region are limited and Mujahid’s father – Raton Ali Sazi – is his family’s sole provider. Whilst his father works hard as a daily labourer, the family struggle to cope with expenses. There is little to spare for Mujahid’s schooling let alone that of his siblings. Without the work of charities such as the JAAGO foundation, boys like Mujahid would stand little chance of receiving the education they deserve.

Despite the obstacles placed in his way, Mujahid is determined to do well. His academic progress is substantial and these improvements, specifically in his literacy, mean his confidence grows with every passing day He is now as sociable and as playful as any seven year old ought to be. As with many other students, Mujahid dreams of becoming a teacher. This is not only a testament to his maturity and nature, but his education and the work of the foundation as a whole. Through such meaningful charity work, Bangladeshi children such as Mujahid can strive not only toward the futures they deserve, but perhaps in turn, inspire and teach future generations.
